Losing faith in democracy

Letter August 06, 2013
Despite the grave situation at home, our PM and president are on their trips to Saudi Arabia and Iran, respectively.

SUKKUR: When a soldier was killed in the UK, the British prime minister cancelled his foreign trip and returned to his country. It showed his seriousness and sincerity to the people of the UK.

Pakistan has been hit by monsoon rains and the resultant flooding has created havoc in certain parts of the country, claiming many lives and paralysing the life of millions. Despite the grave situation, our prime minister and president are on their trips to Saudi Arabia and Iran, respectively.

This kind of an attitude is making the people of Pakistan restless as their agony increases exponentially with every passing day. The prime minister and his team should seriously look into the matter before the nation again loses faith in democracy.
