A faint dawn

Letter July 27, 2013
In Pakistan’s case, despite the shame and humiliation brought on by Abbottabad raid, not a single individual resigned.

MANHATTAN, KS, US: This is with reference to Kamran Shafi’s article of July 26 titled “A faint dawn”. Tragically, the agencies are beyond any body’s control. The PPP tried to bring them under the interior ministry, but to no avail. If one believes in democracy, then every institution should be under civilian rule. In the US, all intelligence agencies are answerable to the elected people and no one is above the law.

A serving four-star general, Stanley A McChrystal, criticised the president verbally and was shown the door. General David Petraeus was involved in adultery and resigned. However, in Pakistan’s case, despite the shame and humiliation brought on by the Abbottabad raid, not a single individual resigned.
