The pay of doctors working in a public hospital is so poor that it’s hard to procure even the basic necessities.
LAHORE: This is with reference to a report in your newspaper titled “1,500 doctors interviewing every day for 2,000 posts in Saudi Arabia”.
Contrary to what most people believe, the status and pay of doctors working in a public hospital is so poor that it’s hard to procure even the basic necessities of life without working elsewhere.
The government has not made doctors out of us by spending allegedly two million rupees per year. The fact is that every medical student has to pay a lot out of his or her own pocket. So it is a basic right of a doctor – just like that of any other professional – to seek out the best job opportunities. People in Pakistan do not appreciate the hard work that a doctor puts in to make a decent living.
