I disagree with this contention completely. The ruling elite are doing what the people of Pakistan want them to do.
IRVINE, CALIFORNIA, US: This is with reference to Naeem Sadiq’s piece “Why we can’t rid society of weapons” (July 18). The writer states: “The well-protected ruling class operating out of Constitution Avenue does not seem inclined to put its money where its mouth is. Consider the facts to understand how the ruling elite can themselves be the biggest reason for the promotion of crime and militancy in Pakistan.”
I disagree with this contention completely. The ruling elite are doing what the people of Pakistan want them to do and that is why they get elected over and over again. We have already seen a glimpse of such support during the elections of 2013. People supporting the elite are more responsible for the current state of affairs than anyone else.
