Immediate action should be taken to locate the culprits who stoned the woman to death.
NIDDERAU, GERMANY: Your editorial “Stoning Shame” (September 29) highlighted serious faults in our society. Immediate action should be taken to locate the culprits who stoned the woman to death. When Jesus Christ saw some people wanting to punish a woman, he is reported to have said: Let he who has never sinned cast the first stone. This shows that such brutal acts and that too without proper judicial procedures and justification were not approved by him. Women must be treated as equal partners in our society.
It is not acceptable that whereas men get away with murder, women must confront inhuman carnage. I see so many Pakistani men in the west, who show off to their friends of having several relationships and yet force their own women to stay in their houses back home.
This can only stop if we have the courage to stand up and fight for their cause. Those who killed this hapless woman must be punished severely. Laws must be made to define such acts as criminal acts of murder.
