Gas theft is considered a right by residents of Lakki Marwat.
LAKKI MARWAT: I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned, and especially the newly-elected PTI provincial government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), towards gas theft prevalent in the province. Gas theft is considered a right by residents of Lakki Marwat. In my opinion, the basic reason for gas theft is that getting an illegal connection is easier than getting a legal one, and it is less costly, too. Applying for a legal connection can be a nightmare because of the laziness and dishonesty of officials, as they routinely demand bribes. Illegal gas connections cause adjoining legal gas connections to suffer from weak gas pressure, as well as causing losses worth billions to the country.
Therefore, on behalf of the residents of Lakki Marwat, I appeal to the authorities to employ all their resources to impose heavy penalties on those making use of illegal connections.
