No water to drink

Letter June 30, 2013
We live in Hayatabad, Peshawar, where we are facing a severe shortage of drinking water.

PESHAWAR: We live in Hayatabad, Peshawar, where we are facing a severe shortage of drinking water. Partially, the problem is due to loadshedding, but the dire situation can be overcome by better management. Residents have met representatives of the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) several times but to no avail. There has been talk of installing a tubewell in the area so that water can be extracted from underground and supplied to residents but that proposal has yet to materialise. The point basically is that we pay our water tax as well as property tax every year but the municipal authorities have consistently failed to provide us this most basic of services.

We, the residents, urge the PDA to kindly address this issue on a war footing since Ramazan is around the corner. We do hope that the new PTI government will help us in this.
