97 billion dollars were deposited in Swiss banks by Pakistani nationals.
DHAHRAN, SAUDI ARABIA: A senior official of a Swiss bank has been quoted as saying that “Pakistanis are poor but Pakistan isn’t a poor country”. He added that 97 billion dollars were deposited in Swiss banks by Pakistani nationals and that this much money could be used to create 60 million jobs, build highways all over Pakistan, end the power crisis, fund hundreds of social development schemes and still leave enough to pay every Pakistani a salary of Rs20,000 for years.
Only if the new government were to come good on its election pledge that it would work to recover Pakistan’s ill-gotten wealth stashed in foreign banks and use it for the country’s betterment.
