Once, the energy crisis is resolved, the country’s industrial and agricultural sectors will get a new lease of life
ISLAMABAD: The foremost priority of the government should be to manage the Rs500 billion circular debt and to pay it off. Once, the energy crisis is resolved, the country’s industrial and agricultural sectors will get a new lease of life and the economy could have a chance of recovering. This, in turn, will generate more taxable revenue and help lower the widening fiscal deficit, and also allow more allocations for infrastructure development. Furthermore, the new government should not spend any more money on building motorways or metros and should instead set it aside for financing new energy projects. The most urgent need for ordinary Pakistanis is to have electricity in their homes and workplaces, not new roads or bridges.
