To say that the abysmal state of Pakistan cricket is his doing, like Aamir Sohail has done, is absurd.
KARACHI: I have my reservations about Imran Khan the politician, but I think he was the greatest cricketer our country has produced and arguably the greatest all-rounder in the history of the sport. Well past his prime as a fast-bowler in the late 1980s, Imran was confident enough to bring in new talent like Waqar Younis, Aaqib Javed and Wasim Akram, polish and nurture them, and make them legends in their own right. He had his fair share of controversies, but to say that the abysmal state of Pakistan cricket is his doing, like Aamir Sohail has done, is absurd. If anything, the last remaining good thing about Pakistan cricket — its knack of introducing good pace bowlers — is owed in large part to Imran.
