The government waters down the competition commission since industry cartels have links to people in high places.
LAHORE: This is with reference to Meekal Ahmed’s article “The scourge of monopolies” (September 27). The government has watered down the competition commission since those who own many of our industry cartels have links to people in high places. Besides, there are many individuals in important positions who have paid their taxes in foreign countries but never paid any substantial tax in Pakistan. That is why the people of Pakistan think that such people will not deliver – because they have split loyalties.
