The Aafia mafia (II)

Letter September 28, 2010
I disagree with the writer because it is a general rule of law that an accused is innocent unless proven guilty.

LAHORE: This is with reference to Fasi Zaka’s article of September 28.  I disagree with the writer because it is a general rule of law that an accused is innocent unless proven guilty. If Dr Aafia Siddiqui was not tried for her alleged links with al Qaeda then she shouldn’t be punished for them.  One cannot justify her punishment merely because she attempted to shoot a US soldier.

If she is a terrorist, as the US government claims, she should be tried for it and if proven guilty she should be punished. The first responsibility of those who write in newspapers is to say things based on facts because intellectuals and the media are responsible for shaping people’s thoughts.
