Breaking the silence

Letter June 03, 2013
We, Kashmiris, are completely indebted to Hoobhoy for raising voice against this high-profile alleged target killing.

MARKHAM, ONTARIO, CANADA: This is with reference to Pervez Hoodbhoy’s article in The Express Tribune titled “Why they killed Arif Shahid” (May 30). We, Kashmiris, are completely indebted to Pervez Hoobhoy for raising his voice against this high-profile alleged targeted killing of a nationalist Kashmiri leader of the standing of Arif Shahid that went unnoticed, unreported and unattended in the Pakistani media and civil society, and uncommented upon by political leaders, intellectuals and common Pakistani citizens.

Pervez Hoodbhoy, a lone reasoned, enlightened and progressive scholar, has broken this criminal silence on the targeted killing of Arif Shahid that the Pakistani society has maintained on it. This apathetic attitude should serve as an eye-opener for all Kashmiris.
