One death of a militant commander here echoes in the form of innumerable innocent civilian lives.
SADIQABAD: A US drone killed the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s second-in-command at a time when the incoming government has been preparing for negotiations. No matter what the US’s view of these negotiations, such a stunt at this point in time reflects utter disrespect for the incoming parliament and more broadly, opinion of the Pakistani public.
In their frenetically hawkish approach, the Taliban and the US are no different. Both disregard the opinion of the wider public, both are self-righteous, and both are indifferent to the loss of civilian lives.
The person with the joystick at the CIA headquarters should take lessons in diplomatic norms. One death of a militant commander here echoes in the form of innumerable innocent civilian lives. Who is responsible for this state of affairs?
