In his bias towards IK, Mr Shafi has mentioned that “he should immediately stop issuing threats of agitation”.
KARACHI: This is with reference to Kamran Shafi’s article “No Tsunami thank heavens” (May 16) in this newspaper. I am disappointed at Mr Shafi’s non-objectivity and partial views. While he slanders Imran Khan for using poor language and showing little manners in his campaign speech towards the PML-N leadership, I am shocked that he has failed to take notice of the same by other prominent politicians. Neither is justified in this, but to say that “[IK] taught a whole generation of young folk hate and rancour” is a bit far-fetched to claim even for someone of Mr Shafi’s stature.
Might I remind Mr Shafi that he, too, made a mistake when he got the facts wrong with regard to the election commission and the Punjab government withdrawing Ali Haider Gilani’s guards. While his apology is appreciated, writing without checking facts does not lend to credible journalism and since we all make mistakes, it is not good manners to fixate on one person alone.
In his bias towards IK, Mr Shafi has mentioned that “he should immediately stop issuing threats of agitation”. Please Mr Shafi, we have seen much more of the same from other parties in the past! Let’s not nitpick. It’s impolite.
