Musharraf’s years weren’t as good as many people make them out to be but the current government is no better.
KARACHI: This is with reference to the article “For Musharraf’s Facebook fans” by Ayesha Siddiqa (September 26). The article rightly points out a major distinction between perception and reality. Let’s keep a few things in perspective. One is that the Pildat report looks at reported earnings and assets. That leaves out the obvious, the ill-begotten gains. Second, there is an obvious worsening in the overall perception of dishonesty in the country, not to mention an increased level of ineptitude in the past two years. This is not showing up on many surveys but can be identified indirectly with things like worsening inflation, apathy and the overall public mood.
