DENVER, COLORADO, US: This is with reference to Amber Darr’s article “Removal of chairman SECP: an inside story” (May 7). As an officer of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan’s (SECP) Law Department, I know that the manuals which have been developed were not the former chairman’s brainchild as portrayed by Ms Darr. The Law Department had already developed the Enforcement Manual, which included inquiries and adjudication processes.
The Law Department was also working on the Litigation manual to streamline the processes given there. The last meeting of the Law Department, before it was dissolved by the former SECP chairman was on the Litigation manual. These manuals were initiated by the former executive director law who was terminated by the former chairman. Therefore, the points presented in this article are not based on facts.
