We need to choose between the welfare of our people and providing them food or buying weapons.
KARACHI: With reference to the article “The price of incompetance” by Ayesha Tammy Haq (September 24), may I point out that the military has raised its budget by a whopping 25 per cent – in the middle of the financial year! This amounts to an additional allocation of Rs110 billion, increasing annual defence expenditures for 2010-11 to Rs550 billion. We need to choose between the welfare of our people and providing them food or buying weapons. I hope we make the right choice.
