How can the interim government distribute public money when its only mandate is to hold free and fair elections?
LAHORE: As reported by your newspaper on April 28, the caretaker chief minister of Punjab announced a grant of Rs100 million for the new Government College University campus at Kala Shah Kaku. Whenever there has been any talk of the caretakers doing something to improve the state of the country, they have responded that their mandate is only to hold free and fair elections. Then how is it that the caretaker chief minister decided that it is his prerogative to distribute a large sum of public money in a cause that is unrelated to the holding of free and fair elections?
Of course, as a Ravian myself, I would be happy if the caretaker chief minister had donated the money from his personal funds.
