KARACHI:
I would like to draw the attention of the relevant authorities towards the issue of missing manhole covers in Karachi. Open manholes in different areas of the city are turning into death traps for the residents who have demanded that the authorities concerned take steps to cover them. The streets of different areas of the city, including Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, PECHS Colony, Fedral B Area and many other areas have open manholes, creating problems for the residents.
Motorists, elders and children are the main victims of these manholes and many times, accidents have been reported due to these open manholes. Whenever torrential rains hit the areas, they cause even more problems. It is regrettable that elected representatives have not done much about this state of affairs.
