ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to a report in your newspaper of September 23 titled “Politicians among top tax dodgers” (September 23). Pakistan is not a poor country and has its share of billionaires.
We are being asked now to give more, do more and pay more. The recent proposal of introducing flood tax is a good example. And of course, let’s not forget the impending GST. As a salaried class, we pay more per month on an individual basis in income tax than most politicians have paid in three years. Enough is enough. These people need to give back to the country that made them.
Let me emphasise: Pakistan made them, they did not make Pakistan. Bring back your billions, fill up the government coffers, give back to the people you purport to serve and leave the rest of us to try and deal with ever increasing inflation, power outages, petrol shortages and all the other pains of daily life resulting from lack of governance and financial mismanagement.
