A divided house cannot defend itself against a deadly enemy.
ISLAMABAD: The May 11 elections are under mortal threat posed by terrorists and their cohorts, who are united in their cause to subvert the democratic process. Politicians, on the other hand, are too divided to take on this threat. A divided house cannot defend itself against a deadly enemy. Our political leaders should focus on the first peaceful transfer of power more than on winning elections.
I am afraid this disunity among democratic forces could prove disastrous for the country and democracy. To pre-empt any conspiracy for the postponement of polls, democratic forces must expand common ground among themselves as soon as possible. If they have nothing in common, they should quit politics and spare the poor people the agony of their expectations and dreams being shattered.
