The city administration should have immediately drained out all the water with heavy machinery and pumps.
KARACHI: I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned to the problems people faced after heavy rains in Karachi on April 22. The authorities had made tall claims that the rainwater drainage system had improved in the city. However, the reality of the matter is different. We saw huge traffic jams due to the water that was stuck on the main streets of the city. No proper arrangements were made by the traffic police for such an eventuality. The sanitation staff was also absent from the roads. This situation created a lot of problems for the citizens. The city administration should have immediately drained out all the water with heavy machinery and pumps to avoid this state of affairs.
