No country in the world can survive without specialists in science, technology, economics and liberal arts.
LAHORE: This is with reference to Rasul Bakhsh Rais’s article of September 20. I am sure that the deputy chairman of the Planning Commission of Pakistan, Dr Nadeemul Haq, a PhD in economics, would ensure that adequate funds are available for our universities and colleges. No country in the world can survive without specialists in science, technology, economics and liberal arts. The acquisition of nuclear technology was an accomplishment of a few dedicated scientists and engineers.
I am not trying to belittle the role of our armed forces but without developing our indigenous defence technology we would be relying on foreign support which comes with a lot of strings attached.
