BAHRAIN, SWAT: This is with reference to Imran Khan’s article of September 20. The Taliban insurgency cannot be regarded as a home-grown phenomenon in the Pakhtun areas. It is an engineered insurgency which has nothing to do with Pakhtun culture or for that matter any culture of the region. Those who blame the Pakhtuns are in reality with the oppressors. One must not ignore the infamous so-called principle of strategic depth while studying this phenomenon.
