Clash of civilisations

Letter September 21, 2010
The world has become a global village and that too very rapidly.

KARACHI: This is in reference to the article “Clash of cultures in New York” by Sameer Ahmed (September 19). Samuel Huntington predicted a ‘clash of civilisations’ and this has started to take its course, becoming obvious with each passing day. The world has become a global village and that too very rapidly. A slow transformation might have been more preferable as that requires one to better accept and tolerate change around you.

This discrimination of Muslims by some Americans is condemnable; however, with the influx of immigrants and the fight against terror this is to be expected.
