KARACHI: I would like to suggest to the government to establish a women’s university in Karachi. The population of the city has increased rapidly over the years and now exceeds 15 million. However, in this city of millions, there is no single public university for women. Many parents do not allow their daughters to pursue higher education because of the presence of male students in various universities of the city. If a women’s university is established in the city, it will enable more females to pursue higher education, given the conservative ethos of a major section of the population.
Therefore, I urge the provincial and federal governments to put sincere efforts in establishing a women’s university in Karachi.
