Strict action must be initiated against senior police officers of the area.
LAHORE: The cowardly attack on peaceful citizens of Pakistan belonging to the Christian community must not only be condemned, but strict action must be initiated against senior police officers of the area for their failure to perform their duties, along with exemplary punishments meted out to those who destroyed private property and indulged in acts of violence. In most such cases, it is the powerful land mafia on whose behest such attacks are planned and carried out in the name of religion. The Quaid-e-Azam promised all citizens that they will enjoy equal rights, without any discrimination as to caste, creed or faith. No individual, including our so-called religious leaders, have a right to take the law into their hands and award collective punishment to a whole community, even if there is a legitimate complaint against an individual belonging to that community. This sort of anarchy is against the Constitution of Pakistan and those guilty should be tried in anti-terrorism courts.
