KARACHI: This is with reference to the article “My list of what’s wrong with our country” by Mikail Lotia (September 18). The writer has quite successfully managed to represent the rationality of the present-day Pakistani mindset. However, his suggestion on how people can help flood victims could be refined to encompass long-term, sustainable solutions.
Money will only be used to make provisions for short-term necessities. What is needed is a strategy to empower those displaced by the floods with skills that they will surely need for self-advancement.
