ISLAMABAD: It is indeed alarming that we are hardly two months into 2013 and already Pakistan has seen the worst kind of bloodshed in the country. On January 10 of this year, twin suicide blasts claimed the lives of over 90 Shia Hazaras in Quetta in an attack. The Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) claimed responsibility for the attack. Then just weeks later, another suicide bomber targeted a Shia mosque in Hangu, killing over 20 people. This was followed by another massive suicide bombing in Quetta which killed almost a hundred Hazaras.
And now, two recent bomb explosions, one at a shrine in Shikarpur and another at a religious rally near Jacobabad, leaving four killed and over 25 injured. Those behind these dastardly attacks are the ones who have essentially declared war on any interpretation of faith that is different from the rigid one which they follow and instead want to impose their harsh and retributive brand on an unwilling population.
All these incidents establish the fact that terror is indiscriminate. And If this is the trend that keeps continuing, it will not be long before we have complete anarchy in the country.
