This state of affairs could eventually bring about a situation where Pakistan could become a failed state.
KARACHI: On February 24, the country plunged into darkness with an almost complete breakdown of electricity supply. The shortage of power in Pakistan has been caused by issues such as circular debt and non-availability of furnace oil and gas, which leads to the permanent or partial closure of many thermal power stations. Another important reason is deliberately ignoring the construction of dams. The inability of people in authority to solve these problems is caused by their sheer incompetence and the practice of appointing political favourites on key posts.
This state of affairs could eventually bring about a situation where Pakistan could become a failed state. Just imagine what could happen if in case of a future similar blackout, there is an attack on our borders or if the Taliban utilise the opportunity and strike at our cities or military installations?
