Marginally less invisible

Letter September 17, 2010
This crisis provides an opportunity for the state to provide relief to the silent oppressed masses of interior Sindh.

KARACHI: This is with reference to the article “Marginally less invisible” by Naveen Naqvi (September 16). This crisis provides a huge opportunity for the state to at last provide some type of assessment and relief to the silent oppressed masses of interior Sindh.

Among those who have arrived at the relief camps are thousands of bonded labourers and this is a good opportunity for the government to ensure that they do not return to their life of servitude. The government should register them and provide some form of settlement and employment opportunities.
