I am amazed at all those educated people who are ready to embrace a draconian system.
WOODBURY, NJ, US: This is in reference to the article “A Facebook president?” by Ayesha Tammy Haq (September 17). I fail to understand that a man who has decided to contest elections based on his Facebook fan following, mostly consisting of ‘kids’ with no real political know-how, can be taken seriously. I am amazed at all those educated people who are ready to embrace a draconian system.
It is important to realise that democracy is a proper system and that it takes time to work, that it may have flaws and that these are not necessarily fixed overnight. Yes, there are some serious flaws with the kind of democracy that is followed in our country but they must be corrected instead of being criticised continuously.
