There is no proper primary healthcare system in the province and poor can’t afford treatment from private hospitals.
ISLAMABAD: If one were to see the plight of poor sick people in Upper and Lower Sindh’s districts it would cause immense despair and despondency. One will find, every year, the loss of thousands of precious lives including innocent children and young women who die of hunger and of entirely preventable diseases. There is no proper primary healthcare system in the province and the poor can’t afford treatment from private hospitals and clinics since they charge exorbitant fees. Had the government, which is about to complete its full five-year term, made the desired investment in primary healthcare and poverty alleviation, I am sure the situation would have been considerably better.
