Wedding timings

Letter February 15, 2013
At 9.50pm, the hall lights were dimmed and the attendees were out of the hall by 10pm.

KARACHI: I recently got an opportunity to attend a wedding in Lahore, the venue of which was a marriage hall. Because of the cold weather in the city, I was concerned about the late closing of such events but was pleasantly surprised to see reasonable promptness on the part of the attendees and serving of food shortly after 9pm. At 9.50pm, the hall lights were dimmed and the attendees were out of the hall by 10pm. This promptness was all the more surprising as the groom was the son of the hall-owner.

Keeping in view the energy problems and the law and order situation, I wonder if Karachiites and people in other cities where weddings end late, can follow the example of Lahoris.
