I felt proud as a Pakistani to see that we have so many responsible ‘corporate’ citizens in Pakistan.
LAHORE: Recently, I happened to visit the Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Lahore . I was pleased to see that various corporations operating in Pakistan had sponsored an “Annual Children’s Festival”. For a change, it was not about donating an amount of money. I could actually see the corporate employees playing with cancer patients, most of them children, and contributing to different stalls that offered games to the patients.
I am glad to see that even in Pakistan, organisations are gradually improving their contributions in the domain of corporate social responsibility. I felt proud as a Pakistani to see that we have so many responsible ‘corporate’ citizens in Pakistan. At the same time, it was sad to see that no government officials were present to share the joy of these cancer patients who were a responsibility of the state, not Shaukat Khanum per se.
A conscientious citizen
