SRINAGAR: Kashmir is passing through a tumultuous phase right now. Kashmiris are fighting for their basic rights in the face of military aggression. The oppressors are hell-bent upon breaking the resolve and determination of ordinary Kashmiris. All organisations fighting for the cause of Kashmiris should work on a united platform. Intellectuals, academics and scholars should devise ways to mitigate the problems faced by widows, orphans and destitute people. Special rehabilitation centres should be created for drug addicts given that their numbers are increasing day by day. A joint charity alliance (based on collection from zakat/sadqa/donation) should be formed for helping the poor and deserving.
Clerics should dispense with their parochial approach and should understand the universal and tolerant teaching of Islam.
