KARACHI: Ahmer Ashraf’s article on guns is timely in that it illustrates well the prevalence of guns in Pakistani society. Public display of weapons is now the norm and the sight of someone carrying a gun no longer infuses a sense of fear in most of us.
As for the issue of deweaponisation, the irony is that the government cannot really be expected to initiate the drive since successive governments have been more or less responsible for it in the first place.
