KARACHI: This is in reference to the article “From one roach to another” by Ayesha Tammy Haq (September 10). Don’t I know too well the pitfalls of trying to unify and promote a fractured fashion industry, one of the many industries that seem to suffer from the same malaise as the politics in this country. It seems you’ve hit the nail on the head. All we end up doing is promoting ourselves as individuals as opposed to looking at the larger issue of promoting Pakistan or celebrating our heroes. The accusations hurled at others as power hungry, self -promoters seem to apply to everyone; however, the ones who feel it’s okay to promote themselves deny everyone else the right to do so at the expense of promoting Pakistan and other fellow Pakistanis. “Let he who hath not sinned cast the first stone” then. When are we going to stop trying to fix everyone else and start fixing ourselves as individuals? Surely that’s the first step.
