Had Dr Qadri continued with an inflexible approach — the outcome would have been devastating.
PESHAWAR: Something is better than nothing. And anything is ‘much better’ than a huge gathering of people resorting to violence, and in the process, women and innocent children losing their lives. This is how I perceive the outcome of Dr Tahirul Qadri’s Long March as a positive development.
The Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar, was very critical of Dr Qadri and alleged that he put the lives of women and children at risk just to “polish his own politics”. He said this because Dr Qadri ended this protest with a peaceful agreement with the government. The opposition leader thought it better not to share his views on what the result would have been had Dr Qadri shown intransigence. Had he continued with an inflexible approach — the outcome would have been devastating.
