Difficulties faced by students

Letter January 19, 2013
The staff did not accept my fee-slip since I paid a Rs50 note and the staff demanded Rs20 in change.

KARACHI: I want to focus attention towards the difficulties and inconveniences faced by the candidates for admission into the University of Karachi’s evening programme with regards to the fee-submission process.

The admission committee of the University of Karachi has declared 2,800 students eligible for admission in the university’s evening programme. But the admission committee has failed to take adequate measures regarding the fee-submission process at the university’s evening directorate. Only two counters have been allocated for 2,800 students. In such a situation, candidates have to face great difficulties and inconveniences while submitting their fees. They have to stand in long lines waiting for their turn for hours.

The rude behaviour of the staff of the evening directorate programme’s accounts section adds to the misery of the students. The staff did not accept my fee-slip since I paid a Rs50 note and the staff demanded Rs20 in change. Just for this, I had to become a part of that long line again. It is my request to the university administration to look into this matter and provide relief to the candidates of the university’s evening programme by increasing the number of fee-counters for them and directing the staff at the counters to deal with the students politely.
