The military remains one of the biggest land-holders in the country.
LONDON: This is in reference to the article “Land reform — the way forward” by Dr Pervez Tahir (September 10). The military remains one of the biggest land-holders in the country and while traditional land holders face fragmentation of their property due to inheritance, its stock of property continues to rise. My question is that what should be the role of the military in the context of land reforms in general? Will be it be unpatriotic if we demand that the military too exhibit transparency and hold itself accountable on this issue?
