Cartoons and tolerance

Letter September 10, 2010
We surely have better things to do than to try and censor cartoons.

HOUSTON: This is with reference to a report in your newspaper by Ali Usman titled “Punjab government goes after Hindu mythology cartoon” (September 7). This is shocking given that one would think that we surely have better things to do than to try and censor cartoons. It is precisely this kind of behaviour that fosters even more intolerance and bigotry in our society – as if there wasn’t enough of that already. I think the solution to this is simple and straightforward.

If parents do not want their children to watch such things on television, they can just do so – by asking them to switch to other channels. We must set an example of being tolerant by practicing tolerance.
