RAWALPINDI: The recently-passed Right to a Fair Trial Bill means that the role of the intelligence agencies in gathering electronic evidence will come under the spotlight. But it is also a fact that most of our agencies lack a comprehensive database and this is like having a horse with no legs. Let’s resist the temptation to put the cart before the horse. One professional and competent agency and not a plethora of agencies is what is needed. Furthermore, we need to change the mindset of our intelligence agencies where even an obviously innocent activity is treated as suspicious simply because that’s the way it has been looked at for years.
