FBR and the MPs

Letter December 23, 2012
The public demands that the FBR should not cower at all and instead ruthlessly recover all unpaid taxes.

RAWALPINDI: This is with reference to the report titled “FBR to sniff out MPs’ tax data whistleblowers” (December 20). Something like this can happen only in Pakistan, where the Federal Board of Revenue, which is supposed to be a whistleblower itself, has stooped to the extent that instead of taking action against the defaulting MPs, it is going to ‘support’ them by trying to catch those who leaked their tax figures.

It’s good that this information has been leaked out just before the elections so that the public, which is already fed up with most politicians, will be in a position to better decide who to vote for.

The public demands that the FBR should not cower at all, and instead ruthlessly recover all unpaid taxes, even from members of parliament.
