Life in Pakistan

Letter December 21, 2012
To set an example, the government should immediately apprehend those behind the attacks on polio vaccinators.

KARACHI: Terrorism is now a fact of life in Pakistan. We have people working on low wages as volunteers taking part in the nationwide polio vaccination drive and they have been killed for trying to ensure that our children do not contract a highly infectious and debilitating disease. Polio is a disease which can devastate a person’s life forever and is feared globally. High-level measures are taken to prevent its transmission by countries but here in Pakistan, those who are at the forefront of taking measures to halt its progress are being killed.

To set an example in order to avoid more such heinous acts, the government should immediately apprehend those behind the attacks and award them exemplary punishment.
