What have the poor people of this country done to deserve this prescription of extreme experimentation?
KARACHI: This is in reference to your editorial of September 7 titled “Revolution — or evolution?” I can’t help but ask: what revolution? What have the poor people of this country done to deserve this prescription of extreme experimentation? Moreover, it is quite likely to go terribly wrong and end up in total chaos and uncontrolled anarchy. Revolutions demand sacrifices and plenty were given in creating and now maintaining this country and our nationhood. Why still ask for more? There is a long list of what we have and for which we can be thankful. Yes, indeed there is also a longer list of what we don't have. However, this does this does not mean that we ask poor people to sacrifice so that the others can benefit. Let us be patient and allow the system of democracy to evolve. Above all let’s pray for our civilian leadership to finally rise to the occasion and stop taking the country to the very edge again.
