The unfortunate irony is that those who are powerful in Pakistan tend to be the most corrupt.
ISLAMABAD: One is fed up with our political leaders saying that they will do this or that to eradicate corruption from society. The unfortunate irony is that those who are powerful in Pakistan tend to be the most corrupt. What our political leaders need to do is to revisit what the founder of Pakistan said in his first presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of the country in 1947. He said that the first duty of a government is to maintain law and order so that life, property and religious beliefs of its subjects are fully protected. He said that bribery and corruption are both poison and need to be dealt with an iron hand.
Quite clearly, we have all but forgotten to follow Jinnah’s advice.
