Things fall apart

Letter September 08, 2010
I have been a Pakistani in this quarter of a century I have neither seen nor participated in any atrocity.

ISLAMABAD: This is in reference to Anna Khan’s article “Things fall apart” (September 6). I have been a Pakistani since birth and in this quarter of a century I have neither seen nor participated in any such atrocity as the one which took place in Sialkot. Yes, the incident is indeed barbaric and inhumane but I feel that marking it as a symbol of our society is incorrect. Like most rational adults, I object to the atrocity that took place and I also want the culprits to be brought to justice. However, this savage act is no way representative of our society. It is perhaps a representation of their personal upbringing, their family backgrounds, their ideals and morals but they do not represent Pakistan
