Corruption ranking

Letter December 07, 2012
Pakistan was ranked the 33rd most corrupt country in the world out of a total of 176 covered in the survey.

KARACHI: Transparency International recently announced its annual ranking of the most corrupt countries in the world. Pakistan was ranked the 33rd most corrupt country in the world out of a total of 176 covered in the survey. The year before, Pakistan’s ranking was 42nd; that is, it was considered less corrupt. With general elections now only a few months away, this ranking will be hopefully used by voters to decide which political parties to give their votes to. Quite clearly, an intelligent voter will not cast his or her vote for the same political groupings that have been running Pakistan for nearly five years.
